Brisk Catering Supports St Vincent de Paul's CEO Sleepout
Did you know that one in 200 Australians are homeless? This is a startling statistic that St Vincent de Paul is working to change. Every year they hold the CEO Sleepout fundraiser, which raises money to support their work with the homeless. This year, Brisk Catering has partnered with them to help produce soup for their volunteers and CEOs taking part in the sleepout. Our team wants to bring light to this issue and how we can help make a difference!
About Homelessness in Australia
It is estimated that on any given night, there are over 116,000 people homeless in Australia. This number has been growing steadily over the past few years, with an increase of 14% since the last census in 2016. Homelessness can affect anyone of any age, gender or background. However, the most recent data shows that Indigenous Australians are more likely to experience homelessness than non-Indigenous Australians and that people aged between 25 and 34 are the most likely age group to be homeless.
There are many reasons why people may find themselves homeless. Some may have experienced family violence or been through a relationship breakdown. Others may have mental health issues or chronic illnesses. Many homeless people have also experienced trauma in their lives, such as abuse or neglect.
Whatever the reason, nobody deserves to be homeless. This is where organisations like St Vincent de Paul come in. They provide support and services to people who are experiencing homelessness, working on getting them back on their feet. One of the ways they do this is through the CEO Sleepout, which raises money to fund their work. This is where Brisk Catering comes in!
We have been working with St Vincent de Paul to provide soup for the volunteers and CEOs taking part in the sleepout. We produced over 150 litres of soup, including chicken and corn, beef and barley, and pumpkin soup. It’s been a pleasure to work with such a great organisation, and we’ll continue to support them however we can. Please visit their website if you’d like to learn more about St Vincent de Paul or donate to their cause. Together, we can make a difference!
