Asian Catering Melbourne: Menu, Prices and How Much to Order
Most Melbourne caterers will show you photographs of Asian food and then make you fill in a form to find out what it costs. What Asian catering costs in Melbourne
Nearly everything on our Asian range is priced per piece, so you build the order around your headcount instead of buying trays and hoping. All prices include GST. There is no service fee at checkout.

The Banh Mi Box works out cheaper than buying its contents separately. Two mini banh mi, two rice paper rolls and a salad cup ordered individually come to $32.05. In the box they're $29.50.
The Asian Fusion Platter is the one to order when the group is big. It holds 10 each of Peking duck crepes, mini rice paper rolls, assorted sushi, mixed mini banh mi and a bao bun selection. That's 50 pieces for $286, or $5.72 a piece. Buying the same spread item by item costs more and takes ten times as long to put together.
How much to order per person
It depends on whether the food is the meal or something people pick at between sessions. Here's what we'd send.

Those bands assume an average of $3.70 to $5.10 a piece, which is what a normal mix works out at. The two examples below show where the numbers come from.
Two worked examples, using real prices:
The light option, $18.60 a head. Three pieces of sushi ($8.85), one shitake dumpling ($4.95) and one rice paper roll ($4.80). For ten people that's $186. For fifty, $930.
The full lunch, $25.60 a head. One serve of Korean fried chicken bites ($5.40), one dumpling ($4.95), one rice paper roll ($4.80), one bao bun ($7.50) and one piece of sushi ($2.95), which comes to six pieces. Ten people, $256. Fifty people, $1,280.
If the room is standing rather than sitting, add two pieces a head. People on their feet graze for longer than people who sit down to eat.

For a bigger sit-down, like a training day or a warehouse lunch, buffet catering works out cheaper per head than finger food. Dietary requirements, in writing
This is where Asian catering usually falls over in a Melbourne office, because the menu looks accommodating and then someone asks a direct question nobody can answer.
Halal. Sushi, bao buns, mini banh mi, Peking duck pancakes, shitake mushroom dumplings, the Asian chicken slaw, the mac and cheese croquettes, the edamame and miso salad cups and the Asian chicken schnitzel ciabatta are all halal. That's most of the range, and it's on the halal catering menu with the tags visible before you order.
Gluten free. The shitake mushroom dumplings and the edamame and miso salad cups are gluten free as they come. Sushi, rice paper rolls and bao buns have gluten free versions. See the full gluten free range.
Vegan and vegetarian. The dumplings and the edamame and miso salad cups are vegan as standard. Sushi, rice paper rolls, bao buns and mini banh mi all have vegan alternatives, and the croquettes are vegetarian. Our vegan catering menu lists the lot.
Nut free and onion and garlic free. Sushi, dumplings, Korean fried chicken bites and the Asian chicken schnitzel ciabatta are nut free. The edamame and miso salad cups, and the Korean fried chicken bites, are made without onion or garlic.

What Melbourne offices order it for
Asian finger food travels better than most catering. Sushi, rice paper rolls and salad cups hold their condition on a boardroom table for a couple of hours. Bao buns and banh mi are one-handed, which matters when people are standing with a drink. Nothing needs a knife.
Four bookings account for most of what we send out. Client lunches and board meetings, where an Asian Fusion Platter down the middle of the table reads as more considered than sandwiches and costs about what a decent lunch out for two would. Team celebrations, usually bao buns, Korean fried chicken bites and dumplings alongside drinks. Desk lunches for hybrid teams, where Banh Mi Boxes go out one per person and labelled, on the same logic as our individual lunch boxes, so nobody has to share. And all-day workshops: sushi and salad cups at lunch, then dumplings and Korean fried chicken in the afternoon when the room flattens out.
